Where does the outdoor unit go?
Usually a rear or side wall, a flat roof or ground level on brackets, positioned for airflow, access and the neighbours. In conservation areas the siting needs more thought, and we deal with that at survey stage rather than on install day.
How noisy is a split system?
Modern indoor units are quiet enough for bedrooms, and the outdoor units from the brands we fit are among the quietest made. We site the condenser so it does not annoy you or the people next door.
How long does an installation take?
A straightforward single split is normally fitted, commissioned and handed over within a day. Longer pipe runs or awkward access can add time, and we tell you that with the quote, not after.
Why does it matter who installs it?
Split systems contain fluorinated refrigerant gas, and UK law requires F-Gas certification to install or work on them. An uncertified install is illegal and usually voids the manufacturer warranty. Every Sturgeon installer is F-Gas certified with annual CPD.
